In addition to automatic HP Smart app installation, Windows 11 users again run into another issue, again related to HP. The OS renames their printers to HP Laser M101-M106, regardless of the actual printer brand.
In a post on the Windows Health Dashboard website Microsoft has confirmed automatic installation of the HP Smart app, and the printer being renamed to HP LaserJet M101-M106 bug. Windows 11 also changes its icons, and shows "No tasks are available for this page" when you double-click on a printer.
Microsoft says that these bugs do not prevent the user from printing documents.
As for the HP Smart app, the Redmond firm noted that devices with no access to the Microsoft Store aren't affect. As the app is being installed from Microsoft Store, working offline or with Store disabled makes it impossible to get it.
Microsoft doesn't provide a solution for the bugs yet. The company recommends reaching their support if you have issues with printers.
