Microsoft has published Automatic Super Resolution system requirements

Microsoft has revealed the system requirements for the Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) feature, part of the upcoming Windows 11 version 24H2. This feature is designed to increase frame rates in games by automatically reducing the rendering resolution and then upscaling the image to a higher resolution using artificial intelligence.

Automatic Super Resolution System Requirements

System requirements for Automatic Super Resolution

  • A Copilot+ compatible device, Snapdragon X-series processor with Hexagon NPU and integrated graphics processor.
  • Windows 11 version 24H2 or later.
  • Actual driver version for the GPU and neural unit. Microsoft publishes them on Windows Update.
  • Screen resolution 1080p or higher.
  • The actual version of the Auto Super Resolution package from the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft noted that the feature is supported in most games that run on DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, and in emulated x64 or Arm64 native platforms. But DirectX 11/12 games using certain formats (such as 10-bit formats), x86-only games and other graphics runtimes including DirectX 9, Vulkan, OpenGL are not supported.

The official list of verified games that work well with this new feature is available here.

The user can enable the Auto SR feature for games that are not officially supported. However, in this case the result may be unpredictable.
