Feb 2025 Patch Tuesday updates are available for Windows 11 and 10

Microsoft today released a set of updates for all supported Windows versions. Those include Windows 11 24H2, 23H2, and 22H2, and several Windows 10 versions. These updates do not include drastic changes to the OS. Their primary goal is to fix bugs and close vulnerabilities. However, from time to time Microsoft ships certain UI improvements via such updates.

Windows 11 will soon allow to view all pinned Start apps at once

Microsoft is working on two quality-of-life improvements soon coming to Windows 11. In forthcoming builds, you will be able to remap the Copilot key to make it open the context menu. Another change is the ability to view the whole list of Pinned apps at once, without scrolling its annoying sections and pages. Both are what Windows 11 were desperately looking for.

Microsoft Edge 133 is out with Scareware Blocker and a new Downloads UI

Microsoft Edge 133 stable is now available to everyone. Version 133.0.3065.51 includes new features like Scareware blocker, Shopping Product Tracking and a new Downloads UI. The browser also comes with the improved handling of MIP-protected PDFs for sovereign cloud clients), URL handling updates to improve web compatibility, and much more.

OCR support in the Windows 11 Photos app is available again

Microsoft has resumed the roll-out of the OCR option in the inbox Photos app. Windows 11 Insiders can give it a try on all channels. The OCR feature can detect text in an image, such as a document, note, or screenshot. The user then can copy all the text or specific fragment to the clipboard.

Ubuntu is now available for WSL in newest tar-based format, Arch and Fedora will soon join

Chrome 133 is out with bufixes and improved power efficiency

On February 4, 2025, Google released Chrome 133 for Windows, Linux, and macOS. This version introduced new features, fixed previously discovered bugs, and addressed twelve vulnerabilities, three of which got a high priority rating. Chrome 132 launched in mid-January, and Chrome 134 is set to arrive in early March.

Microsoft has announced the date for its Build 2025 event

Microsoft shared that the Build 2025 developer conference will take place from May 19 to 22 this year. The conference will likely once again focus on artificial intelligence, the future of Copilot, new features for devices with an NPU, and new AI-powered Windows 11 capabilities. As usual, the company continues its tradition of hosting Build in May annually.
