Microsoft has released April 2022 cumulative updates for all supported operating systems. Traditionally, the updates do not include new features. They are aimed at fixing bugs and eliminating vulnerabilities. Updates are already available from Windows Update.
Windows 11
- Windows 11 (version 21H2) - KB5012592 (OS Build 22000.613). Microsoft Update Catalog.
The change log simply says that the patch includes miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality. As usual, it includes a servicing stack update.
However, there is a serious known issue. If you have installed Windows updates released January 11, 2022 or later, they will break recovery discs. You can create those disks with the "Backup and Restore (Windows 7) " classic Control Panel applet. They won't start due to a bug. Windows updates released before January 11, 2022 are not affected. Microsoft is already working on this issue.

Windows 10
For Windows 10, the support page mentions the end of service for Windows 10 20H2. This version will no longer receive monthly quality updates for anyone on that version of the OS. Also, the patch for version 20H2 resolves CVE-2020-26784. It fixes an issue that causes a Denial of Service vulnerability on Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV).
The list of patches for Windows 10 looks as follows.
- November 2021 Update (version 21H2) - KB5012599 (OS Build 19044.1645). Microsoft Update Catalog.
- May 2021 Update (version 21H1) - KB5012599 (OS Build 19043.1645). Microsoft Update Catalog.
- October 2020 Update (version 20H2) - KB5012599 (OS Build 19042.1645). Microsoft Update Catalog.
- November 2019 Update (version 1909) - KB5012591 (OS Build 18363.2212). Microsoft Update Catalog.
- October 2018 Update (version 1809) - KB5012647 (OS Build 17763.2803). Microsoft Update Catalog.
Note that Windows 10, versions 20H2, 21H1, and 21H2 have an identical set of system files and share their code base. That's why they receive the same patches.

This update on windows 11 causes hundreds of dcom errors. The start menu stops working, you can’t type into the start menu search text box, etc. Basically, a lot of dcom apps will no longer run.
