Microsoft is rolling out a new Photos app with several improvements made to the image viewer and media import. The are available with app version 2024.11060.20004.0 to insiders on the Dev and Canary channels.
Key changes
- Actions such as “Start Slideshow” and “Share” now appear on the main image viewing screen rather than hidden in a drop-down menu.
- Microsoft app shortcuts are now grouped in one place so you can quickly jump from the viewer to the full photo gallery, or open an image in ClipChamp or OneDrive.
- Added a zoom slider that allows you to zoom in or out of an image anywhere from 10% to 800% of its original size. Previously, you could only select one of the preset values.
- The bottom line of the window now displays image dimensions and the size of the file itself.
- A new feature has been added that lets you choose and manage when to begin transferring photos and videos from local devices at your convenience.
- This update includes performance improvements that reduce image viewer startup time by 2.1 times.
Microsoft rolls out the new version gradually, so it may take some time before will become available for your device.
