    hb860, спасибо за замечательную прожку.
Было бы здорово, если бы появилась возможность регулировки
шага изменения громкости колёсиком. А то приходится
долго крутить, чтобы значительно изменить громкость.

When you have multi-channel speaker surround sound configuration, Windows has sliders for each speaker. Can you add per-speaker volume for 5.1 at least instead of just stereo balance?

Would it be possible to add a small OSD (On Screen Display) showing a bar and % of volume?

Thanks for this greate piece of software!

    Works with Windows 8?

This is something I've been looking for a while. It works great!

For feedback, here's my experience while checking it out:

The first time I went to "Settings" I received a .net error message. I continued the program. Since then, I have been able to go to Settings without any errors.

When installing the program, I chose to have it start with Windows. When I went to Settings the first time, the check box for "Start with Windows" was not checked. I had not rebooted, though, and maybe it would have updated if I had.

The only problem I see is that the control does not stay open when I move the mouse off it. The Windows Volume control will stay open until you click outside of it. I would prefer that your controller do that same thing.

You have saved me lots of mouse clicks in the future, so I made a donation to you :-)

    Thank you!!

SimpleSndVol gives me an error in Windows 8.1 preview.

This is a great tool - at work I sometimes want only one headphone in and want to easily change the balance so the sound only comes out of that one headphone.

I am using, on Windows 7 Pro (64 bit). Whenever I mute the sound (set volume to zero), it crashes with a .NET exception a lot of the time:

    Attempted to divide by zero.

Any chance of a new version to fix this?

Hi and thank you for providing SimpleSndVol for free!

    It installs seamlessly on W7.

There is a glitch, however: the POSITION of the volume controller is fixed!!!
Unlike the original SndVol.exe, wher it can be mouse-dragged.

Thus, for people who have their taskbars NOT at the bottom, this is quiet unconvenient: the volume controller is (far) away from the volume icon.

    Hope you can fix this.

    Thanks again

Having the same prob as Nandiman. .Net Framework exception, "index outside the bounds of the array". Running Windows 8.1 (not the preview version) 64-bit with all current Microsoft updates and security updates. Do I need to check for a .Net Framework update or use compatibility mode? What is the deal with this exception? Program crashes every time I try to load it. If I tell it to continue all I get is what appears to be the edge of a window barely visible on the right hand edge of the screen, but no way to move it or interact with it. Clicking anything else makes it vanish although SimpleSndVol is still in running processes.

This works fine for me with Windows 10.

The stereo balance control is just what I have been looking for.

I make midi files as an aid to choral singers. I make a file for each part (soprano, alto, etc.) and put the featured part on the right stereo channel with all the other parts on the left. I thought this was a good approach so that the singer could reduce the amount of support as he/she became more familiar with the music. Unfortunately it is such a nuisance to change the balance in Windows that nobody used this feature. With SimpleSndVol it is easy, especially when you ensure that the icon is always shown in the System Tray and not in hidden icons.

One suggestion. It seems that SimpleSndVol always restarts with the settings as they were last used. This means you have to remember to reset the balance to the centre when ending a session. Would it be possible to make it default to the central position on each start?

Thank you for this excellent facility.

I love that sound thingie, but those icons, I was like a little boy, couldn't sleep half the night, I was obsessed, scrolling over all sorts of shapes and colours, growing and and shrinking, and incapable of making a choice, way too exciting. What if every icon would be like that? I would be tweaking my comp 36 hours in a day and 11 days per week, I'd die from hunger, I would not even notice.... Well the sun is getting up, and I have to do the Volume control options, so I have told myself, yellow triangle for at least one hour.

    Historians are easily kept awake.

Thanks guys, your stuff is one way or another always a bit unexpected, there is always something odd about it, I can't really grasp it, but it keeps me awake and makes me feel young.

One thing I am lookinf for is how to manage a bunch of USB sound cards. To as outputs and all of them for potential inputs. Plus I would like to be able to listen on the internal speaker. Nothing seems able to do this on Win8. What you have done is make sound controls look pretty but yet no graphical display. Just thoughts for the future.

A hotkey for the balance would be very helpful...and have it selected so it can be easily changed with the right and left arrow keys.
