On December 31, Microsoft will close the Windows Insider MVP program

Being in process of internal restructuring and team optimization, Microsoft has made the decision to discontinue the Windows Insider MVP program, effective December 31, 2023.

The Windows Insider MVP program unites IT experts who have made noteworthy contributions to the Microsoft community. These MVPs (most valuable persons), who are testers and enthusiasts of Microsoft products, receive rewards like access to engineering teams, complimentary subscriptions to products such as Visual Studio Enterprise and Office 365, and more, as a sign of appreciation for their loyalty.

According to a Microsoft spokesperson, all current MVP applicants within the Windows Insider program will be considered for nomination into the global Microsoft MVP program, which provides similar benefits and capabilities.

The decision to end the Windows Insider MVP program is believed to be linked to internal reorganization at Microsoft, including the departure of the former head of the Windows department, Panos Panay, in September. Additionally, participants have expressed dissatisfaction with the Windows Insider program, stating that it has become stagnant during the Windows 11 era with a perceived lack of interesting features to test.
