Microsoft begins public rollout of Edge 91, a new version with improved performance and new shopping features. Thanks to the improvements made to Sleeping tabs and the return of Startup Boost, the browser is now much faster than before. In addition, a number of changes have been made to the Edge shopping experience.

First of all, in Edge 91, the "Sleeping tabs" feature has become available, which automatically unloads tabs from RAM if they have been in the background for several hours. It is reported that the consumption of RAM can be reduced by up to 82%. Also there was a function "Startup boost", which allows the browser to run some browser processes in the background after you sign in to Windows, so that later the browser starts faster.

The Shopping experience has been also improved, so it now helps to save money when ordering in online stores. Now, in addition to applying coupons directly to an order, Edge 91 will offer Bing Rebates cashback (Microsoft Rewards must be enabled) for purchases in more than 300 stores.

In addition, it can now display price dynamics for the selected product.

The changes were also made for themes in the browser. You could download themes from the Extension Store before, but now you can choose a color scheme in Settings under the "Appearance" section.

Finally, Edge 91 has the ability to customize the news content you see on the new tab page by specifying topics of interest in the settings.

Starting today, the update is available to all Chromium-based Microsoft Edge users. The web browser should install this new version automatically in the background, but you can also go to the menu (Alt+F) > Settings > About Microsoft Edge to force a check for updates.
