Copilot now uses the GPT-4 Turbo model with free access for users

The latest Copilot GPT-4 Turbo model is now accessible without any charges or fees. Users can also activate the GPT-4 Turbo in either Creative or Precise mode, granting access to a range of new features. Copilot also offers users the choice to stick with the previous version if they prefer.

The information comes from Microsoft's Mikhail Parakhin via an announcement made on X/Twitter. He directly revealed that Copilot's GPT-4 Turbo model is now free for everyone. You must switch Copilot to Creative or Precise mode to make it use GPT-4 Turbo. Parakhin stated that users of Copilot Pro who prefer the older GPT-4 model can easily switch back to it.

In November of last year, OpenAI, now owned by Microsoft, unveiled GPT-4 Turbo. The model was continually updated until April 2023, allowing users to input queries with up to 128,000 tokens. In December, Microsoft integrated GPT-4 Turbo into Copilot Pro.

Finally, Microsoft's decision to provide the GPT-4 Turbo for free may hint that there will soon be a newer GPT Turbo model, and that one may be available to paid subscribers.
