Rumors say that Microsoft may pick the final build for Windows 11 version 22H2 this month. Development of Windows 11 version 22H2 (Sun Valley 2) is coming to its end. Now various sources predict that Build 22621 is most likely be the RTM build of the OS.

Today, Microsoft closed the channel switch window for Dev and Beta Insider channels. It is not possible to change the channel after installing today's releases. Insiders on the Beta channel receive build 22621 from the 22H2 branch. The Dev channel goes forward with what will eventually become 23H2, starting with today's build 25115. Microsoft has started testing the new Sound Recorder app for Windows 11. As you could expect, it has the Fluent Design style and matches the appearance of the operating system. Microsoft today released new monthly cumulative updates for all supported operating systems. Traditionally, such updates do not include any new features. Instead, their goal is to fix bugs and eliminate vulnerabilities. Updates are already available from Windows Update. Microsoft has announced that Windows Insiders can test out the Xbox Controller Bar. It is a different version of the Xbox Game Bar created specially for game controller users. Microsoft today released Windows 11 Build 22616 to the Dev and Beta Channels. It now requires you to enter your Microsoft Account details when installing the OS for personal use. This change has been first introduced in build 22557, and now the requirement is enforced.

Microsoft is finishing development of the first major feature update for Windows 11. You may know it as code name "Sun Valley 2" and "version 22H2". We all expected the public release of this OS to take place as early as August 2022. But Microsoft will obviously finish the development phase before that event. KB5012643, an optional preview update for Windows 11 released in April 2022, includes an annoying bug that prevents entering Safe Mode without networking support.
