You can now try Game Assist in Microsoft Edge stable

Recently, Microsoft has started testing Game Assist, a feature that makes a Edge browser become part of Game Bar. It appears as an overlay on Windows 11. The company has now announced that this feature is available in the stable version of Microsoft Edge. So now gamers can finally try it out without installing any extra software (specially preliminary Edge versions) or change their default browser.

With Game Assist, you can find game guides, access services like Discord or Spotify, and watch videos while you play. The browser window can be pinned on top of a game, just like any other Game Bar widget.

To enable Game Assist and install the widget in Game Bar, open the Settings & More menu (the "…" button) > Options , find "Game Assist" in the search field, and then click the "Install widget" button next to "Game Assist (Preview)" . Now you can use Game Assist in the Game Bar overlay, which is opened with the Win + G keyboard shortcut .

If you already use Game Assist in Game Bar, then no action is required from you. Game Assist will now use the stable version of Edge by default. But if you want to test new features, you can switch to Edge Beta, Dev, or Canary by setting the desired version as the default browser in Windows 11 Settings and restarting the OS.

In addition, the following titles have been added to the list of games for which Game Assist will offer useful content on the new tab page:

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
  • Marvel Rivals
  • Metaphor: ReFantasy
  • STALKER II: Heart of Chornobyl
