Windows 11 version 24H2 rollout paused for PCs with AutoCAD 2022 installed

Microsoft has acknowledged a problem where AutoCAD 2022 may not start on certain devices after upgrading to Windows 11 version 24H2. This issue reportedly impacts all editions of AutoCAD 2022. As a result, the company has temporarily halted the distribution of Windows 11 version 24H2 through Windows Update for systems with this software installed.

Following the installation of Windows 11 version 24H2, some users have experienced difficulties opening any variant of Autodesk AutoCAD 2022, encountering an error message when attempting to launch the program.

Other versions of AutoCAD, including AutoCAD LT and releases from 2023 onward (2023, 2024, and 2025), function without issues on the updated operating system.

Windows 11 24H2 is now a mandatory update, meaning it will typically download and install automatically. However, for devices affected by this compatibility issue, Microsoft advises against manually forcing the installation of the Windows 11 2024 Update using tools like Installation Assistant or the media creation utility.

Microsoft is working with Autodesk on a solution.
