Surface Laptop 3 AMD receives February Firmware update

If you own a 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 with an AMD processor, there is a fresh February update available in Windows Update. With this update, you get a new GPU driver, stability, and security improvements.  

To install the February firmware update for Surface Laptop 3 AMD, make sure your computer runs Windows 10 May 2019 Update (1903) or newer. You can download updates in the Settings – Update & Security – Windows Update. You can also manually download all the available updates using the official Surface website.

Do note that this update is for the 15-inch model only. The 13-inch model receives separate updates because it runs on Intel processors with different firmware.

Microsoft says there are no known issues in this update, so it should be relatively safe to install it right away.

A couple of days ago, Microsoft released a similar update to Surface Laptop 3 with Intel processors. It contained the same changes except for the graphics driver, which is specific to Intel’s iGPU.
