Windows 11 Cumulative Updates

Traditionally on the second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft releases cumulative updates for all supported Windows versions. The patches are already available on Windows Update. They do not bring with them drastic changes, but aim at fixing known issues, improve compatibility and reliability of apps and services.

Here are the cumulative updates released for Windows 11 and 10 on July 11, 2023.

Windows 11

Windows 11, version 22H2, Build 22621.1992 (KB5028185)

This update introduces various new features and improvements for Windows operating system. These include expanded notification badging for Microsoft accounts on the Start menu, improved sharing of local files in File Explorer with Microsoft Outlook contacts, live captions support for multiple languages, redesigned in-app voice access command help page.

The patch adds new voice access command support for English dialects, VPN status icon in the system tray, the option to display seconds in the clock on the system tray, quick copy button for two-factor authentication codes. The access key shortcuts in File Explorer's context menu, multi-app kiosk mode for administrators, live kernel memory dump collection from Task Manager are also part of this update.

Laptops and 2-in-1 device users will find enhanced touch keyboard settings and Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) .

The Settings app will now include a dedicated USB4 hubs and devices page, presence sensor privacy setting. The Settings app itself now comes with an improved search performance, new defaults for the Print Screen key and Edge tabs in Alt + Tab, and more.

Finally, there are various bug fixes addressing issues with the on-screen keyboard, gaming, video flickering, File Explorer, and earbuds streaming music.

This update makes miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality. It includes the changes there were part of the KB5027292 (Preview). Microsoft didn't mention additional issues for this release.
