Microsoft will stop supporting Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2 on October 10, 2023

On October 10, 2023, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, bug fixes, or technical support for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2. It was launched on September 4, 2012, and based on Windows 8, which lost technical support in 2016.

Server 2012's development was officially stopped in October 2018. However, Microsoft promised to release security updates until 2023, which is now coming to an end.

Users who want to continue using Server 2012 for some time will be able to sign up for paid support until 2026. The company does not disclose the price of the service. Corporate users can find it out from Microsoft managers. In addition, it is possible to upgrade to Windows Server 2022.

Windows Server 2012 is one of the odd and underrated server operating systems released by Microsoft. It doesn't include the Start button, but have the Edge Legacy browser (project Spartan). Unlike its successor, Server 2012 R2, the original version supported Hyper-V on older processors, had working drivers for some exotic RAID, and worked reliable.
