Microsoft has revealed that it is rebranding its news services under the MSN brand. The change was first seen last week when the updated MSN logo appeared on the Microsoft Start website and the new tab page in the Edge browser.
Microsoft states the following:
We regularly review our offerings to ensure we’re delivering the highest value for customers. As part of this review process, we are unifying our content services under the MSN brand to better simplify our experiences. There will be no impact on functionality as part of this change.
It's important to note that Microsoft never completely phased out the MSN brand after transitioning to Microsoft Start in 2021. While the MSN.com homepage remained accessible, its articles and content were redirected to the Microsoft Start site. Now, the company has opted to revive the familiar MSN brand, with both Start.com and MicrosoftStart.com now redirecting users to MSN.com.
It is currently unknown whether the company plans to rename the Microsoft Start mobile apps to MSN.
