Microsoft has acknowledged that certain users may be encountering errors while using Outlook.com, particularly when attempting to search within emails. The issue seems to be isolated to the web version of Outlook.com and is not affecting mobile applications.
The users see the "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later." message when performing a search.
"Our initial review of Outlook.com server logs, in parallel with HTTP Archive format (HAR) logs captured during an internal reproduction of impact, indicates 401 errors are occurring due to an exception when users attempt to perform the search," Microsoft said in a statement on the health status portal.
Update 2023-07-06 20:24 UTC: As of this writing, the issue has been resolved. Upon further investigation of the 401 exception errors, Microsoft has discovered that a recent service update caused a configuration problem that hindered users from performing keyword searches in Outlook.com. Developers have resolved the issue by reverting the problematic service update, and they have confirmed that the impact has been resolved.
Also, Some users have reported encountering difficulties when trying to reach Microsoft 365 personal support. They have experienced a loop of sign-in and Office 365 service choice prompts.
Engineers continue to investigate the incident to determine the source of the errors and find a way to fix the problem. It is unknown what regions and countries are affected by the bug(s).
The timing of the solution to the problem has not yet been announced.
