Microsoft has unveiled their latest "ugly" holiday sweater, paying homage to the iconic "Bliss" wallpaper from Windows XP. This follows previous designs that celebrated Windows 95, Windows XP, Paint, the game "Mine Mines," and the beloved Clippy paperclip.
Windows XP will always be remembered as the gold standard of Microsoft operating systems. The Bliss wallpaper holds the distinction of being the most widely viewed photo in the world, as it adorned countless computer screens from 2001 to 2008. Photographer Charles O'Rear captured this image in 1996, and four years later, Microsoft acquired the rights for a substantial sum.
💡The Bliss wallpaper is available in 4K here. Additionally, Microsoft has made the original "Bliss" wallpaper available for download, along with three new variations in different styles. You can download them from the Windows Ugly Sweater website.
In a charitable move, all earnings from the sweater sales will be donated to The Nature Conservancy. This global non-profit organization is dedicated to combating climate change and protecting the vital ecosystems that sustain life on Earth.
Interested buyers can find the sweater on the Xbox Gear Shop website, priced at $69.99.
