Important changes

Root Certificate Store Update: The Microsoft Edge root certificate store is powered by the Microsoft Trusted Root Program. A recent update has caused certificates to no longer be trusted by default if they are endorsed by one of the listed Entrust root certificates and the earliest Signed Certificate Timestamp (SCT) has a date after April 16, 2025, 7:00:00 UTC. Enterprises running a website with an affected certificate should obtain and deploy a new certificate that is not impacted by this change before that date. Alternatively, enterprises can override this restriction by installing the relevant root certificate as a locally trusted root certificate in the operating system. Enterprises choosing this option should carefully evaluate the risks involved.

Component updates

  • Removed the "Add Account" option from the profile menu for Entra ID users. There is no longer an option to add a personal account from the profile menu. The LinkedAccountEnabled policy is deprecated as of Microsoft Edge version 134.
  • Microsoft Search in Bing deprecation and policy update. Microsoft Search in Bing, which is powered by the Bing.com search engine, will no longer be supported after March 31, 2025. The AddressBarMicrosoftSearchInBingProviderEnabled policy used to customize Microsoft Search in Bing search results in the Edge for Business address bar will be deprecated and will no longer function in a future version of Microsoft Edge. It has been replaced by a new policy, AddressBarWorkSearchResultsEnabled , which is already available in Microsoft Edge version 134.
  • Edge on macOS now seamlessly opens links from Teams. When Microsoft Edge is configured as the browser to open web links in Teams, links from a Teams chat will open in the Edge browser in the profile that matches the authenticated profile. This provides a seamless transition between pages with identity and user data integration across Microsoft apps. Admins can control the availability of this feature using a Microsoft 365 policy called "Choose Which Browser Opens Web Links."
  • Scarware Blocker Policy: Scarware Blocker is a new AI-powered feature that is designed to identify pages that attempt to convince potential victims that their device is infected with malware. The feature is currently in testing, and administrators can control its availability via the ScarewareBlockerProtectionEnabled policy . Details about the feature are available here.
  • Settings improvements in Edge. The Settings pages in Edge are moving to WebUI2 to improve responsiveness and include a number of minor visual and content improvements to improve usability and functionality. These include streamlining the wording of individual settings, reducing the number of pages and reorganizing content, and working to create a more cohesive user experience.
Note: This change is rolling out in stages, so you may not see it on your device right now.
