Component updates

  • Intune policies in Microsoft Edge Management Service. Admins can now deploy Intune policies through Microsoft Edge Management Service alongside existing cloud policies. This capability allows admins to deploy both cloud browser policies and Intune policies from a single pane of glass, making it easier to keep users secure and optimize the browser experience. This feature comes with a new policy creation wizard that simplifies the policy creation process into a clear, step-by-step process.
Note: This feature is currently in public testing and can be accessed by selecting the browser version you want in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
  • Version monitoring in Edge Management Service . Edge Management Service provides a single interface for all managed Edge instances, showing their update status and possible actions. For legacy devices, you can quickly schedule an update or notify users to install a browser update to avoid disruption to their workflow.
Note: This feature is in public testing and can be accessed by selecting the desired browser version in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
  • Product price tracking: You can now easily track product prices with a new feature in the Edge address bar that appears on the product detail page. Users can quickly track prices and get notified when the price of that product drops to save money on their purchases. Admins can control the availability of the shopping feature in Edge with the EdgeShoppingAssistantEnabled policy .
Note: The feature is being rolled out gradually, so it may not be available to all users.
  • New password manager policy. The DeletingUndecryptablePasswordsEnabled policy determines whether the built-in password manager can delete undecryptable passwords from its database. This policy is required to restore full functionality of the built-in password manager, but may result in permanent data loss. Undecryptable passwords will not become decryptable on their own. They can be fixed, but this usually requires complex actions on the part of the user.
  • Deprecation of the PromotionalTabsEnabled policy. The PromotionalTabsEnabled policy is deprecated in Microsoft Edge version 132 and will be deprecated in a future release of Microsoft Edge. Administrators can use the ShowRecommendationsEnabled policy instead .
  • Allow enterprise users to view XFA PDFs using IE mode. Enterprise customers can view XFA PDFs in Microsoft Edge using IE mode if they enable this feature with the ViewXFAPDFInIEModeAllowedOrigins or ViewXFAPDFInIEModeAllowedFileHash policies . This change will be available in the new PDF viewer in Microsoft Edge.
  • The Microsoft Edge support page is deprecated. To improve the end-user experience, the edge://support page will be retired. The information that was on edge://support is now available on edge://version , edge://metrics-internals , edge://extensions , and  edge://policy.
  • Full Favorites Bar in Workspaces: In workspaces, the Favorites Bar now displays all of the user's bookmarks, as well as a dedicated folder for the workspace. Previously, when in a workspace, the user could not access their Favorites Bar. Instead, only the workspace's Favorites folder was displayed. Users can control this behavior by changing the #edge-workspace-favorites-bar setting in  edge://flags .
