Microsoft renames Azure AD to Microsoft Entra ID

Microsoft Entra ID is new the new name for Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). It will be in use somewhere "in the second half of 2023" . The name change reflects the consolidation of the Microsoft Entra product family and aims to simplify secure access experiences.

Besides the name change, the software giant didn't announce any change to capabilities, licensing, pricing, URLs, APIs, or authentication libraries. They all remain intact.

The transition will be seamless. The company claims that access to Azure AD will continue without disruptions. The name change will be implemented across all Microsoft products and experiences in the second half of 2023.
