Effective February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo will implement new regulations for bulk mailings. These regulations will impact users who send over 5,000 emails per day. The purpose of these rules is to address the growing issue of spam that users frequently express concern about.
To make unsubscribing from mailing lists more obvious, an unsubscribe button, following the provided example in the screenshot, will be required within the emails. Users should be able to unsubscribe with a single click directly within their mail client.
Starting in February, Gmail and Yahoo, in conjunction with SPF and DKIM, will mandate the configuration of DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance). This authentication process verifies message authenticity, generates reports, and assesses compliance based on the domain name.
To ensure user satisfaction, the spam complaint ratio should not exceed 0.3%. Senders of bulk mailings are responsible for monitoring and maintaining this metric.
As of December 1 of the previous year, Google implemented a new security policy. Accounts that have remained inactive for a minimum of two years will be deleted, resulting in the removal of all account content, including data within Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar) and Google Photos.
