Change Registry Font in Windows 10 Creators Update

Starting with Windows 10 build 14986, the operating system got a new feature. Now the Registry Editor app allows you to change its font quickly and easily. Let's see how it can be done.

The ability to change the Registry font was implemented in Windows 10 a few builds ago. It required a Registry tweak. Finally, the appropriate option was added to the app's GUI.

Change Registry Font in Windows 10 Creators Update

To change the Registry font, you need to have installed Windows 10 build 14986 or above. Do it as follows.

  1. Open Registry Editor.
  2. Click the menu item View - Font:
  3. The default Font dialog will appear on the screen. There you can pick a new font for the Registry editor app.

Technically, the font will be stored in Registry under the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RegEdit

The font attributes are stored in the following values:

  • FontFace - the string value which contains the name of the font.
  • FontItalic - this is the 32-bit DWORD parameter which can be 1 or 0.
  • FontWeight and FontHeight - these 32-bit DWORD values define the thikness and size of the font.

You can export them in a *.REG file and use it later when you need to restore your Registry Editor font.

That's it.
