Microsoft has released monthly cumulative updates for all supported operating systems. Traditionally, the updates are intended to fix bugs, and ship general improvements to the end user.

More information comes about features planned and implemented for Windows 10 that never seen the light in release versions of the OS. You may already heard about the cancelled Start menu with 3D tiles, which is one of such features. The unified user interface with Cortana and Action Center combined is another one. There are plenty of ideas Microsoft prepared and even implemented for Windows 10. Some of them you could already seen and tried. The most famous example is the Sets function, which was supposed to add a tabbed interface to all applications, but it never made it to release. But there are also many of features have never been revealed to the public. Between 2015 and 2020, the company's engineers came up with probably hundreds of different features, but they were never fully implemented. With Windows 11, Microsoft has also introduced a new Media Player app. It replaces the classic Groove Music app, and also will supersede even more classic Windows Media Player software. Microsoft is slowly sunsetting the latter, so it didn't get any new major change for several Windows releases. To keep Windows 10 up to date, Microsoft will make the new Media Player app available in that OS as well. Without a fanfare, the Redmond firm has pushed it to the Release Preview channel. Microsoft has finished support for Windows 10 version 21H1. Yesterday's cumulative updates were the last patches it has received. Microsoft recommends upgrading to the latest versions of Windows 10 as soon as possible to continue to stay protected.

The Windows Subsystem for Linux in the Microsoft Store is now generally available on Windows 10 and 11. Microsoft has announced the availability in the official blog, noting that it is now longer has a Preview tag. Starting November 18, every user can upgrade their Windows 10 devices to the latest release using Windows Update. Windows 10 2022 Update, version 22H2, is ready for broad deployment.

Microsoft has released a new build to Insiders running Windows 10 version 22H2 on the Release Preview channel. They receive Build 19045.2301 via KB5020030. It includes improvements made to the the taskbar search, fixes various issues with Store and DirectX.
