YouTube is currently testing a feature where users with active ad blockers will have their site access limited to only three video views. A Reddit user, known as Reddit_n_Me, shared a screenshot of a pop-up window warning that YouTube suspects the use of an ad blocker and threatens to restrict video player access unless it is disabled. YouTube emphasizes that ads are crucial for keeping the platform free for billions of users worldwide.
This is not the first time users have received such pop-up warnings. YouTube started displaying them about a month ago when users were using the platform with ad blockers. The recent addition to the pop-up is the threat of blocking the video player.
It appears that YouTube is currently testing these measures with a limited number of viewers. Users in the Reddit thread mentioned that they have not encountered such pop-ups yet.
In May, YouTube announced its plan to replace two non-skippable 15-second ads with a single 30-second ad on TVs and smart devices.
