Xbox Cloud Gaming will soon support mouse and keyboard

Xbox Cloud Gaming, also known as Project xCloud, will soon get the long awaited mouse and keyboard support. Currently, you must have an Xbox controller connected to your Xbox console or phone games to use cloud game streams. The upcoming update will eliminate this requirement.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is a feature that streams graphics of compatible games from the cloud to users' consoles. Thus, even users of previous generations of consoles will be able to play newer games.

The new input capability is coming to more than 100 games, and is not limited to Microsoft games only. However, some games may require additional optimizations from the developer. Also, it still requires an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Microsoft's head of Flight Simulator, Jorg Neumann, has revealed some details for the upcoming change. Check out this Q&A stream:

Microsoft didn't specify any time frame for the public roll-out of this new feature. It is safe to expect them to make it available to Insiders before rolling out to the public.

It is worth mentioning that some of the Xbox games support touch screen devices and allow the user to use their smartphone for gaming. The same capability is coming to the Flight Simulator title.
