If you like to run Android apps on Windows 11 via WSA, there is a bit of good news. Microsoft prepares several major updates to the Windows Subsystem for Android. Among the improvements, there are a platform updates to Android 13, file transfer, and picture-in-picture support.

The list of the upcoming changes is published on GitHub, and it looks as follows.

  • Android 13

However, the roadmap doesn't include the estimated release dates for any of them. Most likely they will first appear for Insiders in the near future. So if you are running Windows 11 in the Dev or Beta channel, you will see them soon.

As of now, the latest update to WSA includes Chromium WebView 105, improvements made to Camera HAL, clipboard stability, performance in multi-threaded mode, and security fixes. It is now generally available in 31 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and more. Out of the box, it gives you access to more than 50,000 Android apps that you can run on Windows 11. You can also get more apps installed by installing Google Play and sideloading APKs.
