Windows 11 is already installed on 1% of all devices

Market Share AdDuplex Icon

AdDuplex has published a new stats regarding the usage share of various versions of Windows, which now also includes data on insider builds of Windows 11. Keep in mind that AdDuplex collects that data from 5000 applications using the AdDuplex SDK, so take it with a grain of salt. The actual numbers are probably slightly different, but the monthly reports from AdDuplex are the only data source to track the market share of Windows versions.

So, as of July 26, Insider builds of Windows 11 are used on 0.9% of devices running Windows. Of course, this figure will slightly increase after new builds come to the Beta channel. But due to the new minimum system requirements, the growth of market share is clearly not going to be fabulous.

Another notable value is Windows 10 Insider Preview installed on 0.2% of devices. Perhaps this value reflects the number of Windows 10 version 21H2 instances. They are currently available to select users on the Release Preview channel.

As for stable versions of Windows 10, the market share has changed significantly since the last statistical report. Since that time, Microsoft has released Windows 10 May 2021 Update (version 21H1). It already has a share of 26.6%. October 2020 Update (version 20H2) takes the top position with a market share of 36.3%. Finally, the May 2020 Update releases has only 24.6%, while in April it was 40.6%.

  1. Sergey:
NetMarketShare.com also tracks OS system share by version ( see https://netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.asp). They just haven’t added Windows 11 into their top 50 list yet. I expect it will show up in the next month, or the month after.
