Windows 11 gets Countdown and Timer widgets via a Clock app update

Windows 11 Timer Countdown Widgets

Microsoft has released a new Clock app version for Windows 11 Insiders in the Canary & Dev channels. Build 11.2408.9.0 of the app brings with it two new widgets,  Countdown and Timer.

On Windows 11, both third-party and inbox apps can expand the set of widgets. There are the Store apps Spotify and Messenger that provide their own custom widgets. The Dev Home app brings with it CPU and memory monitoring mini apps, and the Phone Link app has its own widget too.

In the same fashion, the Clock app now offers you quick access to Countdown and Timer. Both are the features on the app itself, but now they are available from the widgets board (Win + W).

It is worth noting that both widgets can work with multiple values. The Timer supports several timers, and the Countdown supports several days. To specify more than one value, you need to click on the appropriate widget to access extra options.

Widgets is a new feature of Windows 11 that runs mini-apps in a panel that you can open with a click on the icon in the taskbar. There is also a hotkey, Win + W, and an option to open them on mouse over. In addition to the panel, they appear in the taskbar as a block of dynamic info, e.g. weather forecast or stock information.
