Windows 11 Build 27813 (Canary) comes with a few fixes

Microsoft has released a new preview of Windows 11, Build 27813 , to Insider program participants on the Canary channel. Key changes include the removal of the Location History feature (used by Cortana for device location tracking), with corresponding settings deleted from Privacy & Security. Fixes address audio crashes linked to MIDI updates via the WDMAud driver and display issues with missing color profiles.

This update includes a small number of improvements and fixes designed to improve the overall experience of the operating system.

Other

The Location History feature has been removed. This was an API used by Cortana to access a device’s 24-hour location history when location tracking was enabled. Once the feature is removed, location data will no longer be stored locally on the device. The corresponding settings have also been removed from the Settings > Privacy & Security > Location page.

Fixes

Audio

Fixed an issue with the WDMAud system driver that was causing applications to crash after recent improvements to MIDI performance.

Settings

Fixed an issue where Settings > System > Display > Color Management might not display a list of color profiles for the selected monitor.

General

  • [Important note for Copilot+ devices] If you are upgrading to the Canary channel from the Dev, Release Preview, or Stable channels on a Copilot+ device, you will encounter an issue using your PIN or biometrics when attempting to sign in. You will see the error "Something went wrong, your PIN is not available" with the code 0xd0000225. To reset your PIN, click the "Set up PIN" button.
  • Investigating a d3d9.dll issue that is preventing certain applications from launching for some Insiders.
