Windows 11 Build 26120.1930 (Dev) adds new Sandbox Preview, settings for Copilot key

Windows 11 Build 26120.1930 (KB5044388) is now coming to Dev channel insiders. Similarly to the Beta channel, some of the new features are coming only to users with the "Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available" setting enabled. Specially, this build improves Unicode fonts, updates the Windows Sandbox Preview client, allows changing what the Copilot key does, and includes several fixes.

Microsoft has released an update to the Clock app (version 11.2408.9.0 and above) for Windows 11, which includes two new widgets - Timer and Countdown. To add new widgets, open the widget panel and click the "+" button in the upper-right corner. At the moment, only participants of the Windows Insider program can access to these widgets.

Windows Sandbox

The preview version of the new Windows Sandbox client, which was released in Build 26120.1843 , is now available to all Insiders in the Dev channel.

General

This update includes a small number of improvements and fixes designed to improve the overall experience of the operating system.

Fonts

A new simplified Chinese font, Simsun-ExtG, has been introduced, containing 9,753 characters and supporting Unicode extensions G, H, and I. In particular, it includes the long-awaited character for noodles "Biangbiang" (U+30EDD), known for its complexity, as shown in the image below. Please note that display of new characters from these extensions may not be available in some applications yet.

The font covers the following Unicode ranges:

  • Unicode G: 30000-3134A (4939 characters)
  • Unicode H: 31350-323AF (4192 characters)
  • Unicode I: 2EBF0-2EE5D (622 characters)

Fixes

Fixed an issue where some Insiders were seeing the OS selection menu incorrectly (on dual-boot devices). Colors could be distorted, and the menu itself could take up only half the screen space.

Improvements

Settings

Added the ability to reassign the action for the Copilot key. You can assign it to launch any app packaged in MSIX and signed, which ensures that the app meets security and privacy standards to protect users.
Until the user selects a different action, the Copilot key will continue to launch the Copilot app on devices where it is installed. The setting is available in Settings > Personalization > Typing.

If the keyboard connected to the computer does not have a Copilot key, changing this setting will not lead to any changes.

Known issues

  • General: Installing this build may fail with error 0×800f0983. If you encounter this issue, simply try installing again. The update should be successful the second time. If the process is stuck at 0%, just be patient — the process should continue.
  • Start Menu: If you click or tap a letter in the All Apps list in the Start menu, the list will stop working correctly. To fix this, try restarting your computer or restarting the explorer.exe process.
