Windows 11 Build 22635.5097 (Beta) improves scaling in File Explorer, and fixes various bugs

Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 Build 22635.5097 (KB5053648) to Insiders in the Beta Channel. This build will only apply to version 23H2, and is available Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who did not upgrade to receiving updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on

File Explorer

  • Microsoft is continuing to enhance File Explorer accessibility by adding better text scaling support for warning and error message dialogs. This can be adjusted through Settings > Accessibility > Text size. If users notice any parts of File Explorer still not working well after these updates, The company encourages providing feedback under Files Folders and Online Storage > File Explorer.
  • Microsoft resolved a problem where File Explorer would freeze if the search indexer was stuck.
  • The company fixed an issue where file or folder dates in Home might appear blank unexpectedly.
  • Microsoft improved the reliability of File Explorer when launching.

Taskbar

Microsoft addressed a bug where, when using Hebrew or Arabic as your display language, pressing WIN + T and navigating with arrow keys would move focus in the wrong direction across taskbar icons.

Input

Microsoft solved a problem where voice typing wouldn’t start from the touch keyboard when using the Chinese (Simplified) narrow layout.

Login and Lock

The company updated the web sign-in icon slightly so it matches better with other icons on the login screen when choosing a sign-in option.

Windows Sandbox

Microsoft fixed an issue that prevented Windows Sandbox from launching in recent Beta builds for some users, showing error 0x80072746.

Known Issues

Start Menu

Here are the known problems for Windows Insiders using the new grid and category views on the "All" page of the Start menu:

  •  After installing an app, there might be a delay before its icon appears in the grid and category views.
  •  When right-clicking on an app, the "Start settings" context menu briefly flashes before the correct app-specific menu shows up.
