Windows 11 Build 22635.4945 (Beta) improves Spotlight on desktop

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 22635.4945, version 23H2 to Insiders in the Beta channel. It comes via the KB5052084 patch and includes the following improvements.

Changes and improvements

General

    • This update includes a small number of improvements and fixes designed to improve the overall experience of the operating system.

Spotlight on the desktop

    • Now it will be easier to find Windows Spotlight. The company has changed the color and background of the icon. In addition, the icon itself has moved to the lower right corner of the desktop.

Fixes

File Explorer

    • The performance of extracting archived files in Explorer has been improved. This will be especially noticeable when unpacking a large number of small files.
    • Fixed several issues affecting the stability of Explorer.
    • Fixed an issue where opening File Explorer from the command line could cause the address bar to be blank and not display the current path.
    • Fixed an issue where you couldn't select multiple files in the Featured section of the Home page by holding Shift and clicking on files.
    • Fixed an issue where the More Info (...) menu on the toolbar would open in the wrong direction on some screen resolutions.

Input

    • Fixed an issue where explorer.exe would crash when opening the pop-up input panel.
    • Fixed an issue where using the touch keyboard on the login screen could unexpectedly launch two touch keyboards at once.

Lock screen

    • Fixed an issue where you couldn't reset your password on the login screen.

Known issues

File Explorer

    • Investigating an issue where File Explorer closes very slowly for some Insiders when they click the X button in the title bar. This issue may also affect other buttons in the title bar.

Settings

    • There is a known issue where two new cards specific to enterprise devices—Device information and Ease of Access settings—appear on unmanaged PCs signed in with a Microsoft account.
