Changes and improvements in both builds

General

Microsoft is testing notifications in Settings -> Accounts, asking users to add a backup email address or phone number to their Microsoft account to ensure they don't lose access to it.

Start menu

For some insiders, the "Recommended" section of the Start menu will now be called "For you."

Fixes in Build 22624.1690

Input

  • Implemented another change to address an issue that affected the launch of the touch keyboard and PIN entry pad on the login screen.

Notifications

  • Fixed another template for recognizing two-factor authorization (2FA) codes in notifications.

Task Manager

  • Made some changes to address an issue where random processes are sometimes grouped with Microsoft Edge even though they're unrelated.
  • Fixed an issue that affected the stability of the Task Manager.
  • The search icon should now be more visible when using a contrasting theme.
  • The navigation bar has become a little smaller. If necessary, section titles can be wrapped on a new line.
  • The submenu for creating a real-time kernel dump file now has keyboard shortcut hints.
  • Pressing the Enter key while keyboard focus is on one of the sections (e.g. Memory) on the Performance page should now switch sections.
  • Resizing the "Task Manager" at the top of the window should now work.

Known Issues

Search on the taskbar

  • If you have a Bing button in the search bar on your taskbar and you restart your computer, you may see an important event from the daily rotation for some time before the Bing button returns to its place.

Widgets

  • When you first open the widget pane, you may briefly see the widget placeholders from the old two-column layout, even if the device supports the three-column layout.
