Vivaldi 1.4 stable is out

A new stable version of the innovative Vivaldi browser is out. Unlike previous major releases, this one does not include many new changes. This release comes with a wide set of bug fixes, while there are only 3 notable features for the end user. Let's see what it offers.

Vivaldi is an innovative Chromium-based browser with unique useful features. It is created with a modern engine by the same people who created the good old Opera browser with the "Presto" engine. It is oriented towards power users who like customization. The browser is in active development. Version 1.4 includes the following additions.

Theme change scheduling

The browser allows you to switch its theme on a schedule. You'll find the appropriate option in Settings, under Themes. See the following screenshot:

The user can schedule more than one theme change during the day. We have a review of this feature in detail HERE.

Variable width for web panels

Web Panels is a unique feature of Vivaldi which allows the user to put a web page inside the left panel of the browser. Once added, it can be displayed like a sidebar. It is useful to put your Twitter feed there or something similar.

A new option, "Separate Width", is accessible from the panel's context menu. There you can specify the desired width for a specific web panel, so it won't affect other web panels. This will allow the user to determine the optimal width to display content for each web panel individually.

Middle-click to restore the last closed tab

With version 1.4, the browser offers the ability to restore the last closed tab by middle-clicking on the trash bin icon.
