Modern File Explorer is Updated with Fluent Design

As you may already know from our previous article, Windows 10 comes with a new Universal File Explorer app. It is a modern app which might replace the classic File Explorer in the future. Recently, it got updates with the Fluent design bits applied to the UI.

Groove Music updated with Fluent Design

Around a month ago, Microsoft introduced its vision for the future of user interface design in the next upgrade to Windows 10. Right after that, the company started to add more and more of its Fluent UX elements to its own first-party apps, including Calculator, Maps, Store and Grove Music. However, most of the UI improvements were only available to users participating in the Windows Insider program and using newer OS builds.

Fluent Design comes to Windows Store in Windows 10

Windows 10's upcoming UI, previously known by its code name "Project NEON", is a new design language which is focused on simplicity and consistency along with cool animations. It also adds Windows 7’s Aero Glass-like effects to the Universal app frame and controls. A few days ago, Microsoft started rolling out a new update for the Windows Store app to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring which features the Fluent Design.

Meet the Microsoft Fluent Design System

Windows 10's upcoming UI, previously known by its code name "Project NEON", now has an official name. At yesterday's Build 2017 event, Microsoft introduced it officially and also released an updated SDK for Universal App developers which supports new APIs. The new user experience APIs are called "Microsoft Fluent Design System".
