Microsoft prepared a new set of patches for its most affordable Surface laptop. December 2021 firmware update for Surface Laptop Go brings new drivers, stability improvements, bug fixes, and battery optimizations.

The software giant introduced Surface Laptop Go in October 2020. Laptop Go offers a 12.4-inch touchscreen, a 10th gen Intel Core i5 CPU, 4 or 8GB of RAM, and 64 to 256GB of storage. Users can choose between three colors, and the price starts at $499.

Technically, the most affordable Surface laptop is now the recently introduced Surface Laptop SE, but Microsoft positions that computer exclusively at the education market and does not plan to sell it to regular consumers.

What is new in December 2021 firmware update for Surface Laptop Go?

The update fixes bugs that cause Surface Laptop Go to crash and show a blue screen of death. Also, it delivers an improved graphics driver from Intel and one Windows 11-specific feature. Microsoft says the latest firmware for Surface Laptop Go “enables Windows 11 feature to improve battery life.” Earlier this year, the same “feature” arrived on other Surface devices, such as Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, etc.
