Raspberry Pi 400 is a desktop PC in a keyboard form factor

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has introduced a new 4GB Raspberry Pi 4 option, that is integrated into a compact keyboard. The device comes with an overclocked SoC, along with a big effective heat sink. It is referred as "a faster, cooler 4GB Raspberry Pi 4".

The new device is actually the same Raspberry Pi 4, but turned into a finished product, not a bare-bones board. Also, the board has a different form factor. In addition to the different form factor of the new board, the key difference from the previously released Raspberry Pi 4 boards is the overclocked CPU from 1.5 Ghz to 1.8Ghz. The frequency was increased thanks to the heat sink made if a large metal plate to which the "keyboard" is attached.

It allows you to connect a display via mini HDMI (4K / 60Hz), a mouse, and use GPIO and other expansion ports.

The specs are as follows.

  • 1.8GHz ARM Cortex-A72 CPU
  • 4GB of RAM
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
  • Two micro-HDMI ports
  • Two USB 3.0 ports
  • One USB 2.0 port
  • One USB-C port for the power supply.

The price starts at $70. For extra $30, you will get the following.

  • A Raspberry Pi 400 computer
  • The official USB mouse
  • The official USB-C power supply
  • An SD card with Raspberry Pi OS pre-installed
  • A micro HDMI to HDMI cable
  • The official Raspberry Pi Beginner’s Guide

The device is now available for purchase in the US, UK and France. A little later, it will become available to buyers in Italy, Germany and Spain. It is expected to be available in India, Australia and New Zealand by the end of the year.
