Microsoft Releases Office 2024 for Consumers, Non-Subscription Version

Microsoft has announced Office 2024 for consumers and small businesses. The release is classic app suite without the subscription requirements. It is a one-time purchase that includes newest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook for Windows and macOS.

The company reminds that the software requires a Microsoft account and an Internet connection to install it and receive updates.  Office 2024 is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and the three latest versions of macOS.

Office 2024 sports an updated UI that follows the Fluent Design principles. It looks more polished and matches the visual design of Windows 11. It comes with a unified look and intuitive interface across all apps included in the suite.

Microsoft highlights the following improvements:

  • Support for the OpenDocument (ODF) 1.4 format
  • Improved Excel stability and speed
  • The ability to add subtitles to audio and video files on PowerPoint slides
  • Improvements made to search by email, calendars, and contacts

Finally, Microsoft Word boasts significantly improved document recovery after an unexpected program or computer crash. In most cases, this will allow you to continue working from where you left off before the failure.

  • Office Home 2024 ($149.99)  is ideal for home use, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for one PC or Mac.
  • Office Home & Business 2024 ($249.99)  is an upgraded version that includes Outlook in addition to the Home edition apps and provides commercial use rights.
