Microsoft has officially announced Xbox Game Pass Family & Friends

A few days ago, a leak revealed the rebranding of the Game Pass family subscription to Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family. The company today announced it officially and revealed all its options.

The company started testing the new subscription in Ireland and Colombia. As its name suggests, it allows the user to share their games with friend and family members. All they need to do is to join Friends & Family through the Microsoft Store app. After that they will be able to manage participants of the subscription.


Keep in mind that you can only share your membership with people who live in your own country/region. If a group member changes his country/region, he will lose his access.

Other limitations include:

  • You can only be a member of one group at a time.
  • As the primary account holder, you can invite up to four people at a time with a max of eight people who accept to join your account per year.
  • Your group members can only join a group up to two times per year. This includes leaving and rejoining the same group.
  • Only the primary account holder can share their Game Pass benefits via home sharing. Group members cannot share with other accounts on their console.

If you already have any of the Xbox subscriptions, after joining Friends and Family as a primary account holder, e.g. the person who shares the subscription, it will converted according the following list.

The pricing is €21.99 per month. The primary account holder is responsible for payments.

Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family will give benefits of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to all five users. It will allow them to access multiplayer on consoles, the Xbox Cloud Gaming service and PC games in the PC Game Pass subscription.
