As part of the fall Ignite 2021 conference, Microsoft has officially announced the release of the stable version of the Microsoft Edge browser for the Linux platform. You can download it from the official Microsoft Edge website .

We wrote a few days ago that Linux packages of the stable version of Edge were spotted on Microsoft servers. At Ignite 2021, the Redmond software giant has officially announced it.

Besides the IE mode, it is the same app that you have on Windows and MacOS. You can sync all your bookmarks, passwords, form data, and extensions across platforms with Edge. You can start from where you left off in PDF documents. Even battery saver mode is included.

The Linux version of Edge is based on Chromium 95. Once you download & install the package, e.g. the DEB file for Ubuntu, it will modify your package manager configuration. So future updates will be installed automatically using you distro's update mechanism.
