Microsoft 365 Copilot is coming to OneNote

Microsoft is combining the Large Language Model (LLM) from ChatGPT with data from the Microsoft Graphs, which includes notes, calendars, emails, chats, documents, meetings, and more, along with tools from the OneNote app.

The goal is to improve users' productivity by providing personalized assistance and suggestions when creating and formatting notes.

To access the feature, users can click on the question mark icon on the OneNote ribbon, and the Copilot pane will appear on the right side of the screen.

As with other Office apps, the Copilot interface in OneNote will appear on the right side of the app and use a chat interface that users can engage with using natural language, similar to how it works on Bing. This means that users can ask questions and receive personalized assistance and suggestions from the AI in real-time.

Additionally, the AI can also show as a contextual prompt overlaying the app's canvas, which will provide users with further guidance and suggestions. This is a convenient and intuitive way to interact with the AI and receive assistance when using OneNote.

At the moment, Microsoft is testing the Copilot feature with a select group of Microsoft 365 customers. It has not yet been announced when the AI chatbot will roll out to OneNote or other apps. This testing phase is likely being used to fine-tune the Copilot feature and ensure that it is working effectively and efficiently before it is made available to a wider audience. It's worth noting that Microsoft is known for taking a careful and deliberate approach to rolling out new features, so it may be some time before Copilot is available to all OneNote users.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is an exciting addition that will help users save time and be more productive when taking notes.
