Geekbench 5 benchmark revealed Surface Duo 2 with Snapdragon 888 SoC

Microsoft is on the way to announce the next generation of its foldable Surface Duo smartphone. So it is not surprising to see the device in the Geekbench 5 benchmark. Test results confirm rumors that the Surface Duo 2 will receive a Snapdragon 888 processor and 8GB of RAM. For comparison, the first generation was powered by a Snapdragon 855 chip and 6GB of RAM.

The Geekbench database also reveals that the Surface Duo 2 will run Android 11 out of the box. Performance figures are comparable to other Snapdragon 888-based devices - 1,091 points in a single-core test and 3,517 points in a multi-core test.

You may remember that a few weeks ago, photos of the pre-final prototype Surface Duo 2 leaked to the Internet. The leak showed the triple main camera of the smartphone. Various sources say that the device appearance is final. The same is for the camera sensor layout. If this true, the device look will not change by the time of the official presentation.

Reportedly, the Surface Duo 2 device will also receive an NFC module, a fingerprint scanner in the power button, a larger display with a high refresh rate and a larger battery.

We expect the official announcement this fall, in late September or early October.
