Mozilla Firefox has got an update to version 109.0.1. It comes with several fixes for the browser on several platforms, including Windows and Mac. For the Windows version of Firefox, developers have restored pre-Firefox 109 font rendering. The new DirectWrite method introduced in Firefox 109 made fonts look much thicker. - Fonts:
- Custom COLRv1 font to override flag emojis no longer makes Firefox freeze. Earlier, if you used a custom font like Google's Noto to show flag emojies in color, the browser could hang.
- Fonts no longer look thicker. The pre-109 behavior of the render is restored.
- Panning and Zooming: scrollend events are now fired to content by default on scroll completed.
- Security: Interested users can now enable two new prefs, security.sandbox.rdd.acg.enabled and security.sandbox.utility-wmf.acg.enabled to enhance Arbitrary Code Guard on Windows.
- Usability: date-time picker popup is now fully keyboard accessible.
- Networking: Fixed an issue causing authentication prompts to not appear when loading pages in some enterprise environments.
- Various minor UI fixes for DevTools.
