Microsoft is terminating music metadata service for Windows Media Player in Windows 7

As you may remember, Windows 7 is reaching its end of life in less than a year. Microsoft has started retiring services and features related to this OS. One of them is a service that allows fetching metadata for music, films, and TV shows. The service will no longer be available in Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center apps for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users.

Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7 and Office 2010

The Redmond software giant is ending support for two of its most popular products ever - Windows 7 and Office 2010. Both can be considered classic software and they are widely used by users all over the world. On January 14, 2020, Microsoft will terminate support for Windows 7. On October 13, 2020, Office 2010 will stop receiving updates as well.

Fix Windows 7 BSOD after installing KB4056894

As you may be aware, Microsoft has released a number of patches for all supported operating systems to protect them from Meltdown and Spectre attacks. These include Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Unfortunately for AMD CPU users, these patches cause a blue screen of death (BSOD) for those who have an AMD Athlon chip. Here are Windows 7 and 8.1 fixes for Meltdown and Spectre CPU flaws

A critical flaw was found in all Intel processors launched in the past decade. The vulnerability can allow an attacker to gain access to protected kernel memory. This chip-level security flaw cannot be fixed with a CPU microcode (software) update. Instead, it requires modification of the OS kernel. Earlier today, Microsoft released security patches for Windows 10. The appropriate patches are now available for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

Besides the updates for all versions of Windows 10, the Redmond software giant today released a number of updates for the previous versions of the OS. Disable Launch Startup Repair recommendation in Windows 7

In many cases, it can be just ignored and you can continue normal startup.
