With recently released Build 25227, Microsoft announced a new mysterious feature for Windows 11  - Start menu badges. According to Microsoft, they will remind the user to do this or that important action. There will be a small orange dot overlay icon over the user profile, and an extra item(s) in the menu.

Microsoft has released new Insider preview builds of Windows 11 version 22H2,  22621.870 and 22623.870, with KB5018499 to the Beta channel. Traditionally, Build 22623.870 comes with new features available for testing. Build 22621.870 - New features disabled by default.

After installing Windows 11 Build 22621.754 (KB5018496), you will be able to activate a new style for the search button in the taskbar, turn into a textbox, and more. These options were earlier spotted in Beta and Dev channels, and some of them are available on the Release Preview channel of the original Windows 11 release (21H2).

Microsoft has released a new build to Insiders running the newest Windows 11 22H2 in the Release Preview channel. The company announced several new features in this update, including the Task Manager in the taskbar context menu, search visual treatments on the taskbar, updated backup experience for Microsoft Account, and a new consent form for those of you enrolled in Windows Hello Face and Fingerprint. Windows 11 Build 22621.754 is released as a cumulative update, KB5018496.

Along with the latest Dev channel build, Microsoft is rolling out an updated Microsoft Store app. It will save your time on finding a game or movie, as it now shows its trailers directly in a flyout.

Microsoft has released a new Dev channel build to Insiders with changes made to the Widgets panel, Start Menu, Group Policy, and input. The Widgets flyout one has a toolbar with extra actions. The Start menu can now show notification badges to inform the user about actions he needs to take. Besides, there are a bunch of fixes in this release.

By releasing the "Moment 1" October update for  Windows 11 2022 Update, version 22H2, Microsoft has finally shipped several long awaited features, such as Tabs in File Explorer, Taskbar Overflow, and the Task Manager  item in the context menu of the taskbar. Windows Terminal is now set as the default command line tool in Windows 11. The change goes live in the recently released version 22H2, and supersedes the classic command prompt and PowerShell options.

The original version of Windows 11 is also getting the long awaited change to the taskbar. It will soon allow you to open the Task Manager from the right-click menu. Insiders in the Release Preview channel can already test the change after installing KB5018483, which raises the OS version to Windows 11 Build 22000.1163.
