One of my friends, a lucky owner of the Microsoft Surface tablet, has discovered a annoying bug in his device. When the Wi-Fi signal is not stable or suddenly disappears, the device behaves strangely: once the Wi-Fi signal is lost, it tries to connect, but ends up losing the ability to connect to ANY Wi-fi network. The other unfortunate thing is that this behavior of being unable to reconnect to any wireless connection is not limited to this particular case.
In another scenario, if you run into problems connecting to wireless and then if your Surface tablet goes into hibernate mode, then you will get the same issue right after it wakes up.
Some users have also reported a black screen for several minutes besides the above issues.
What about the solution?
At this moment, there is only one solution: try to turn off the Wi-Fi by switching the tablet to airplane mode BEFORE you will hibernate it or shut down. Do the same if you know that you will reach a zone with unstable/problematic Wi-Fi networks.
