Windows 10 build 10135 features an updated Snipping tool

The Snipping tool is a little known app bundled with Windows ever since Windows Vista for capturing screenshots. But it never got any updates ever since, not in Windows 7 nor in Windows 8 either. So it is a surprise for me to see that in Windows 10 build 10135, there is an updated and slightly improved version of Snipping tool.

In Windows 10 build 10135, the Snipping tool comes with a new option. It allows you to set a delay from 0-5 seconds before the screen is captured.

257655_originalThis change was unexpected to be honest. Microsoft is moving from Win32 apps to Modern/Metro/WinRT replacements like they already did with Calculator and their Edge web browser. I would have expected some Metro replacement for the Snipping tool, but instead Microsoft decided to improve the existing tool which is a welcome change.

    1. Well, not for everyone for sure
I recommend you to try the app called Greenshot.
You will never look back to Snipping tool.

  1. To be honest, I’m using this “inside” basic snipping tool because I never had time, up to now, to really look for another one, offering more possibilities …
I did already hear about “Greenshot” and will now definitively, after your recommendation, have a deeper look at this software.

Sooo, many thanks, Sergey, for the tip; I truly appreciate it ! :-)
