What’s new in Edge Stable 80.0.361.47

On February 7, 2020, Microsoft released a new stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium. Edge Stable 80.0.361.47 a number of improvements, new features, and new policies. Here are the changes.

Feature updates

  • Added SmartScreen protection from downloading potentially unwanted apps. Learn more
  • Added support for Dolby Vision playback.
  • Enabled users of Windows Mixed Reality to view 360° videos on VR headsets.
  • Added an option to Reading View to increase text spacing.
  • Added support for erasing link using the Surface Pen eraser.
  • Added support for using the arrow keys and spacebar to draw on feedback screenshots in editor mode.
  • Improved the reliability of screenshots so they stop appearing all black when submitting feedback.
  • Added dark theme support to the local new tab page that is shown when the device isn’t connected to the internet.
  • Added the ability for websites installed as apps to be restored when a browser session is restored after update, crash, etc.
  • Added dark theme support to PDF UI when the browser is managed by Group Policy.
  • Updated Adobe Flash to version 32.0.0.321. Learn more

16 new policies were added. Download the updated Administrative Templates from the Microsoft Edge Enterprise landing page. The following new policies were added.

Resolved issues

  • Fixed an issue where audio is not working in Citrix environment.
  • Fixed an issue where Microsoft Edge and legacy Microsoft Edge side by side experience results in broken legacy links and crashes.

it is worth mentioning that there is a new update to the stable channel, Edge version 80.0.361.50. Microsoft didn't release the change log for this version yet. Check out the list of actual Edge versions below.

Microsoft recently released the first stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium to the public. Surprisingly, Microsoft Edge is still supporting a number of aging Windows versions, including Windows 7, which has recently reached its end of support. Interested users can download MSI installers for deployment and customization.

For pre-release versions, Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. Microsoft is going to support Edge Chromium on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, alongside macOS, Linux (coming in the future) and mobile apps on iOS and Android.
