Vivaldi 2.11 Released with Pop-out Video Improvements

Vivaldi Browser Icon Modern Version

The most innovative Chromium-based browser, Vivaldi, has reached a new release milestone. Here is Vivaldi 2.11, and it comes with a number of new useful features.

Vivaldi was started with the promise of giving you a highly customizable, full-featured, innovative browser. It looks like its developers kept their promise - there is no other browser on the market which offers the same amount of options and features. While Vivaldi is built on Chrome's engine, power users are the target user base, like the classic Opera 12 browser. Vivaldi was created by former Opera co-founder and developed keeping in mind Opera's usability and power.

These day, Vivaldi is the most feature rich, innovative web browser among Chromium-based projects.

The key changes in Vivaldi 2.11

Improved Pop-out video mode

The Pop-out video feature allows you to watch a video in a separate, floating window. The always-on-top window can be moved to any point on your screen. Previously, it could be enabled from the video context menu.

In Vivaldi 2.11, enabling picture-in-picture is much faster. A single click on a small video box icon displayed in the center of the video will launch it in a new Pop-out window.

Also, there are forward and back buttons in the update Pop-out window.

Themes update

Vivaldi will change its default theme to match your operating system’s light/dark settings. For example, if you have set your MacOS to dark mode, Vivaldi will be launched in dark mode by default. Earlier Vivaldi did not follow the operating system’s (OS) Dark/Light mode by default.

Focus shifting via the keyboard

Vivaldi 2.11 allows you to focus between different areas of the User Interface and active pages using F6(or Shift+F6).

You can use F6 to cycle (or Shift+F6 to reverse) keyboard focus between the webpage, bookmarks bar, tab bar, and address bar. From there, you can move between other sub-elements.

Other changes

  • Improved full-screen tab casting that adjusts to fit in the current window.
  • Upgraded developer tools.
  • Installation should be in the native language
  • The new Cast quick command (F2).

  1. I never liked Vivaldi and still prefer Opera. Vivaldi is just too much for me, such as it’s loaded with all those links in the bookmarks. No thank you.

They should have 2 install modes: basic and full. With basic, it’s like Opera vanilla, but you can add extra features later if you want.

For now, I’ve been using the new Edge. I like it a lot.

I also tried Brave, but I don’t like it much.
